When Senior Product Manager Lisa Hamano says that balance is key to her life, she means it. While she works hard at her job, she makes sure to fit in time for the other loves in her life. And, as a new parent, this balance has taken on new meaning to her.
What has becoming a mom taught you about well-being?
I’ve always believed that living a healthy lifestyle was important to my well-being but not to the exclusion of focusing on my mental and emotional health. Now that I am a mom, the importance of maintaining this for myself has become even more important. I know I need to be at my best in order to be good for my son.
How do you do this for yourself?
I make it a priority to carve out time for myself to hit my favorite gym class, run, read a book or try to watch a movie all the way to the end in one sitting.
I also spend time gardening and grow tomatoes, figs, plums, peppers and more. I also love DIY projects, especially those that involve turning items into something quite different than their original form—a la Flea Market Flip.
Tell us about your job and why you work at WebMD Health Services?
I’ve worked in product groups in various organizations before but working here is different. It allows me to build products and services that promote the well-being of others and impact people in many areas of their lives. It’s so rewarding!
Another huge perk of working here is the people. Not only are they fun to work with but they’re a group of folks who really take pride in what they do and have a strong desire to help others.
Oh, yes, and there’s the free fruit as well…ya just gotta love that!
Is there anything that might surprise people about you?
As much as I love being out in my garden, I am deathly afraid of birds!
