Senior Data Scientist

Dan Beutler is a Senior Data Scientist with WebMD Health Services Center for Research, where he has worked over the last 13 years to help improve the lives of coworkers and customers. He has a track record of successfully building and socializing insights across a range of stakeholders to save money, improve decision making and drive change.

Having spent more than half of his career creating and architecting software, Dan brings an extensive knowledge of best practices in writing code. He has a passion for data and uses an approach that helps to improve processes and build effective systems. He regularly gives presentations at SQL conferences, Quantified Self, and WebMD Health Services on a myriad of topics from SQL optimization to personal data analysis.

Dan has earned a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University in Computer Science and a Master of Science in Data Science from Northwestern University. A lifelong Oregonian, Dan lives in Portland with his wife, Janelle, and son, William. He enjoys soccer, optimizing his life through the analysis of personal data, hiking, reading, and meditation.
